Watch live as Day 3 of the preliminary hearing in the murder case of Charlie Kirk gets underway in Provo, Utah. Prosecutors continue presenting evidence against Tyler Robinson as they seek to convince the court there is enough evidence to send the case to trial on aggravated murder charges and pursue the death penalty.
Day 2 featured some of the prosecution’s most significant evidence so far. Jurors and the courtroom were shown surveillance video that prosecutors say tracked Robinson’s movements around Utah Valley University before and after the shooting. FBI forensic experts also testified about DNA allegedly recovered from a towel wrapped around the rifle and other evidence found near the scene, while defense attorneys aggressively challenged the reliability of that forensic analysis and questioned whether the evidence definitively links Robinson to the murder weapon.
Today’s hearing is expected to continue with additional testimony, forensic evidence, surveillance footage, and witness examinations as prosecutors work to establish probable cause that Robinson committed the murder of Charlie Kirk. The defense is expected to continue attacking the state’s forensic evidence and challenge key elements of the prosecution’s timeline before Judge Tony Graf decides whether the case will proceed to a full trial. Day 3 is scheduled as a half-day session beginning at 1 p.m. local time.
