Paddleboarders Tucker Olinger and Owen Lee were fishing in the pouring rain in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday when they spotted an animal in distress in the Colorado River. As the pair got closer, they realized it was a raccoon.
Olinger said he raced over to help, reaching his paddle out to scoop up the animal.
Once on the board, Olinger said the raccoon started nibbling on his shoe, before taking shelter underneath him.
“I couldn’t explain how that made me feel,” Olinger said. “We then got him over and he ran off without another look.”
